Many New Yorkers ride the bus every day. They expect that they will be safe and get to their destination unharmed. Unfortunately, a recent bus crash in Brooklyn left a dozen people injured.
The accident happened around 1 p.m. on Feb. 15 at New York Avenue and Dean Street when a car and a bus collided. Authorities are not sure what caused the accident and are continuing to investigate.
Twelve people were taken to local hospitals to be treated for injuries. However, six of the injuries were not serious.
Those who were injured in the accident may have to endure lengthy hospital stays, multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. Their injuries may prevent them from working and could seriously interrupt their lives. It is for that reason that those who were injured in the crash may wish to file a personal injury lawsuit against the negligent party.
Car accidents happen frequently, especially along busy New York City streets. But that does not make any accident less serious or frightening. When drivers are inattentive and reckless they can cause serious harm to other people. When accidents occur because of another person’s negligence, they should be held responsible.
Residents in New York City who have been injured in an accident of any kind may find it helpful to consult with a personal injury attorney. An attorney can investigate an accident and fight to get an individual the compensation they deserve. No one should have to suffer financially because of another person’s reckless actions.
