Craig Rosenbaum | September 4, 2015 | Bus Accidents
Throughout New York, tour buses are a common site. This busy state relies on buses as a part of its infrastructure and countless individuals travel on these vehicles every week. However, as is the case with any vehicle on the roads, buses can become embroiled in devastating accidents, often leaving passengers and even other road users with serious injuries or worse.
In Queens, nine people suffered injuries when a tour bus crashed in Rego Park, according to fire officials. The bus is believed to have collided into the building’s corner after losing control, possibly as a result of the driver’s attempt to avoid a vehicle in his path. The impact was such that a hole was left in the building, exposing a view of a bookcase on the other side of the wall.
The victims included all five people who had been on the bus, and an individual from within the building. These six were hospitalized, but three others are believed to have suffered injuries in the incident. The bus driver was among the injured but is reported to have returned to work since the accident.
Accidents like this happen all too often and it is fortunate that no lives were lost in this incident. Even so, the victims of the crash are likely to have been left feeling extremely shaken and unsure what to do next.
If you have been involved in an accident involving a bus, or any other such accident on the roads, you might benefit from the advice of an attorney. He or she may be able to help you decide how best to proceed in the wake of your accident and support you if you choose to pursue compensation or seek a payout from your insurance provider.
