In New York, consumers assume that the products they purchase have passed stringent quality checks. According to reports, the manufacturer has recalled over 400,000 of the baby jumpers that the company manufactured before November 2011 because they are believed to be responsible for injuries. Consumers are advised to stop using the baby jumper immediately and contact the company for a replacement.
The company said that it has received approximately 100 complaints regarding the baby jumper. The jumper has many toy attachments but the smiling yellow sun is, apparently, responsible for the injuries. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the defective spring device causes the attachment to rebound with force and injures the child, causing an impact hazard.
The complaints include incidents of bruises and cuts. Manhattan readers might be shocked as there were even reports of a 7-month-old baby boy fracturing his skull and an adult chipping a tooth because the product malfunctioned. As a result, the victims of this dangerous product are likely to sustain, not just physical damages, but financial damages as well.
Nonetheless, the recall and replacement of the baby seat cannot reverse the damages that the victims sustained. The manufacturers are responsible for any damages that were caused by their products. This gives the consumers the right to file a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturers.
