According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, a New Jersey company is recalling more than 8,000 pounds of organic chicken and apple sausage after receiving reports that the product may contain plastic pieces. The products were created at the end of January and were sold at retail stores and online. A few consumer calls to the company made the company aware of the small plastic pieces in the sausage. However, no injuries have been reported.

In a strict liability case, the injured, who is the plaintiff in the case, must prove that the product contained an unreasonably dangerous defect, which, in turn, caused injuries to the plaintiff while he or she was using the product in the way that it was intended to be used. The plaintiff must also prove that the product was not altered in any way from how it was originally received.
