People in New York and elsewhere often get in their car expecting that they will make it to their destination safely. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. A car accident can snarl a person’s plans or even land them in the hospital.

On the evening of Mar. 5, eastbound traffic on the New York State Thruway was at a standstill. A two-car crash led to one overturned pickup truck and a traffic pileup that stretched for miles. According to the authorities, one person sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police and firefighters removed two cars from the scene of the accident around 7:45 p.m. Efforts by authorities to clear the accident area were hindered due to lose cargo from the pickup truck being spread across the roadway.

Automobile accidents occur daily across the country. However, that does not make them any less frightening. People may suffer serious injuries. They may be forced to stay in the hospital for a lengthy period of time. In addition, they may be unable to work and could face a long recovery period.

Whether the driver, passenger or pedestrian, an injured motorist may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages or pain and suffering due to a car crash. Anyone involved in a car crash may wish to contact an experienced attorney to discuss what legal options they may have. If it is determined that another driver was negligent, an individual may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit.
