New York driver injured in 2-vehicle crash

For many, driving is part of their day-to-day lives. For others, often in metropolitan areas, their means of transportation is by taxi. However, no matter how you choose to travel, a car accident can happen at any time. This is especially true if another driver on the road is negligent or not fit to drive.

One Brooklyn man recently ran into trouble while driving out-of-state. As he traveled eastbound one evening, his vehicle was hit by another vehicle heading west. The woman driving the other vehicle had crossed the road's centerline, resulting in a head-on crash with the Brooklyn man and causing his automobile to roll into a ditch where it caught fire.

Police speculated that the other driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. She is said to have refused medical treatment and received a citation for careless driving. The New York driver's injuries were not thought to be severe. He did receive treatment in the emergency room after being taken there by an ambulance.

In this accident, fortunately, no one appeared to suffer serious injuries. However, the repercussions of car crashes can often be far more severe and are not always immediately apparent. Added to that is any damage done to your vehicle and the cost to remedy it. Furthermore, a crash is often a traumatic experience even if everyone involved is largely unharmed.

Drivers in New York should be prepared to deal with the consequences if they are involved in an automobile accident. If you have been injured as the result of someone else's negligent or dangerous driving, you shouldn't have to struggle through the recourse unaided. By challenging the negligent driver, you can seek compensation for you injuries and resultant costs such as medical expenses. An attorney may be able to help you understand your rights and guide you through the process so you can have the best possible chance of reaching a fair resolution.
