6 injured in New York City car crash

What is the extent of the injuries? How do we finance all of the medical bills? What are the future costs of rehabilitation and how do we prepare for these costs? These are common questions that many people ask when their loved ones are harmed in a car accident caused by another person's negligent or reckless behavior. These are the issues likely faced by the loved ones of those injured in a recent New York City car crash.

Police say that six people were injured after one driver caused a chain reaction of crashes on a New York City bridge. According to reports, the car accident involved eight different motor vehicles. Police say one driver hit another car, which set off collisions throughout the bridge leading to at least one car flipping over. According to police, the injuries resulting from the crash were minor.

When loved ones are harmed in a car accident, such as this one, family and friends are left with the difficult challenge of figuring out how to financially provide for unexpected bills including hospital and rehabilitation costs. In this situation, those hurt in a car wreck may consider filing a personal injury claim.

Generally, a personal injury case may be handled in two different ways -- a personal injury lawsuit or settlement. A formal lawsuit is a civil proceeding. The plaintiff petitions the court to find fault in another's negligent or reckless behavior in the car accident, which caused harm and injury. A settlement typically involves a negotiation with those involved in the car accident, their attorneys and their insurers. A written agreement resolves the case in a settlement.

Car accidents occur every day. Unfortunately, these accidents lead to injuries and unanticipated costs. Through a personal injury lawsuit or settlement, loved ones may better financially provide for those injured.
