Did driver's negligence cause fatal pedestrian accident?

People assume that they will be able to safely walk down the streets of New York. Sadly, that is not always the case.

Authorities in New York are now investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Feb. 8. According to the New York State Police, a 58-year-old man was traveling eastbound when he struck and killed a 76-year-old man with his vehicle.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. If they determine that the driver of the vehicle was reckless, he may face criminal charges.

This is not the first pedestrian accident we have reported on. In January, a 59-year-old man was struck and killed by two different vehicles in Brooklyn as he tried to cross the street.

People expect that the roads they walk and drive on will be safe, but when another person's negligence causes harm, they should be held responsible for their actions. If it is determined that the driver in this most recent accident was at fault, the family of the victim may wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver. Although there is no amount of money that can make up for their tragic loss, it may provide them with some measure of justice.

People in New York who are injured in an accident or family members who have lost a loved one may wish to consult with an experienced personal injury attorney. An attorney can investigate every aspect of a case to help individuals and families receive the compensation they deserve.
