It is an unfortunate fact that no one is completely safe on the roads. Regardless of how careful you are personally, another person’s negligence or misjudgment could cause a series of events that have devastating consequences for you and everyone else sharing the road at the time. Sadly, you may not even be safe as a pedestrian, as was demonstrated by a tragic car accident in New York.

Multiple pedestrians fell victim to the incident when a car mounted the curb, crashing into three of them. Police responding to the incident arrived to discover that one of the pedestrians, a 20-year-old man, had been fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene, having been found pinned beneath the car. Two other victims, women aged 19 and 21, were moved to a hospital for treatment. They were deemed to be in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the driver fled the scene, traveling on foot. However, police were able to track him down and take him into custody. Witnesses speculate that the crash could have stemmed from an altercation that may have occurred at a baby shower. Police are continuing the investigation.

Sadly, this may be little comfort to those left behind by the deceased victim. Coming to terms with such a loss takes time and the void never truly heals. If you or a loved one are injured in an accident caused by somebody else, you may want answers, compensation or simply justice. Whatever the case, you might benefit from the advice of an attorney as you weigh up your options and select the course of action that is best for you.
