Two injured in early morning accident in Manhattan

Two New York City drivers suffered injuries when they collided on a Manhattan street in late November. There have been no reports as to which of the drivers caused the car accident. Though no claims have been made to date, one or both drivers may have a legal basis for a personal injury claim under New York laws.

The two cars involved in the crash were driving on South Street near Clinton Street around 4:30 a.m. A late model Toyota Camry appears to have struck a Plymouth Voyager minivan, causing the Camry to careen into a steel stanchion.

Both drivers were injured in the crash. The driver of the Toyota Camry was rushed to Bellevue hospital and was listed in stable condition. The driver of the Plymouth Voyager was listed at the same hospital in critical condition.

A nurse who lives close to the scene of the accident said she heard horns blowing and tires screeching before she heard a loud crash.

Although police do not believe anyone is guilty of any criminal acts, if one of the drivers is determined to have caused the accident, he or she may be liable for the personal injuries to the other driver. Personal injury law in New York allows for financial compensation for injuries caused by the negligence of another.

Anyone in New York that has been injured in a car accident may wish to consult with an experienced personal injury attorney. The attorney may be able to help determine who is responsible for the accident and help those who are injured receive the necessary compensation.
